Action Lab for Development (ACTLAB) is proud to announce its official participation in the Thirty-Fifth Session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ), which will take place from 1–5 June 2026 at the Vienna International Centre (VIC), Austria.

The Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice is one of the principal policymaking bodies of the United Nations in the fields of crime prevention and criminal justice. The annual session brings together Member States, international organizations, experts, and civil society representatives from around the world to discuss emerging challenges, share best practices, and strengthen international cooperation.

As an organization holding Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), ACTLAB continues to expand its engagement in global policy discussions and contribute to international efforts that promote sustainable development, human rights, youth empowerment, education, and social inclusion.

This year, Action Lab for Development will be represented by Ms. Ariana Cecilia Peñaloza Jaimes, Advocacy Officer (Human Rights) and a Master’s Candidate in International Law at Complutense University Madrid, Spain. Ms. Peñaloza Jaimes has been formally delegated to participate in the session on behalf of ACTLAB, marking another important milestone in the organization’s growing engagement with the United Nations.

ACTLAB’s Contribution to the Global Dialogue

ACTLAB’s participation extends beyond attendance. Through an official statement submitted under Agenda Item 6(f), Education, Youth Empowerment, Human Rights, and Inclusive International Cooperation in Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, the organization will contribute practical recommendations drawn from its work with disadvantaged communities, women, and young people in Cameroon. ACTLAB will highlight how education, entrepreneurship training, vocational skills development, digital literacy, and community-based initiatives can help address the root causes of vulnerability to crime, while advocating for stronger youth participation in policymaking, enhanced support for victims of trafficking and exploitation, improved access to justice, and greater investment in digital safety and cybercrime prevention. Through this contribution, ACTLAB seeks to advance more inclusive, equitable, and human rights-based approaches to crime prevention and criminal justice worldwide.

Commenting on this important milestone, Tfurndabi Tawong Cornelius, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Action Lab for Development, stated:

“Our participation at CCPCJ 35 is not only about representation; it is about ensuring that the voices of young people, vulnerable communities, and grassroots organizations are heard in global policy discussions. Through our contribution, we are sharing practical solutions that demonstrate how education, digital inclusion, entrepreneurship, and community empowerment can serve as powerful tools for crime prevention and sustainable development. It is a testament to the dedication, professionalism, and passion of our volunteers. We are proud to see ACTLAB represented on a global stage and proud that our volunteers continue to transform opportunities into meaningful impact. Through our UN ECOSOC Special Consultative Status, we remain committed to ensuring that young people and communities have a voice in international discussions that shape our future.”
